Galbanum is a member of the umbellifers family and is a monocarpic plant, which means they produce flowers and reproduce only once in their whole lifespan. After the formation of seeds and fruits, they show internal changes and eventually die.

The Galbanum plant goes through its vegetative growth in the years before flowering and increases the biomass of its aerial organs and root reserves every year. This process probably continues until the fifth to seventh years, and after that, the reproductive stage of the plant begins with flowering and then ends with seeding.
